Delete Your Account
This page exists for one reason: to make deleting your ALYT account as clear, and as reasonably fast, as creating one was. It is publicly accessible without signing in, because you should be able to find out exactly what happens before you commit to it, and because app-store rules for any app with account creation require exactly that.
Deletion is permanent. Once processed, it cannot be undone by us, and we cannot recover your account, home configuration, or history for you afterward. Please read this whole page first.
How to Delete Your Account
Request deletion by email (available now)
Email support@alyt.co with:
- The email address on the account
- Your full name
- Your home/property name, if you remember it (this helps us locate the right account quickly, though it is not required)
- A clear statement: "I request permanent deletion of my ALYT account and all associated data."
Because this request arrives outside the app's normal sign-in flow, we verify your identity before proceeding — this may include asking a security question tied to your account, or asking you to confirm details only the account holder would know, and may include replying from the email address on file. This is a deliberate friction point, not an obstacle for its own sake: it exists specifically so that someone else cannot delete your home configuration by emailing us pretending to be you. We process verified email requests within 30 days, and typically much sooner.
What Happens When You Delete Your Account
Data removed
| Category | What happens |
|---|---|
| Account (email, password, name, preferences) | Deleted |
| Home, room, and device configuration | Deleted |
| Device pairings | ALYT hardware becomes unpaired from your account and requires re-provisioning by whoever holds it physically (see below) |
| Voice history — metadata and transcripts (if enabled) | Deleted |
| Automations and their execution history | Deleted |
| Notifications | Deleted |
| Household member invitations and access grants you issued | Deleted — everyone you gave access to loses it immediately |
| Connected integrations (Sonos, Alexa, Ring, etc.) | Disconnected; ALYT's stored copy of credentials/tokens for each is deleted |
| Push notification tokens | Deleted — your device stops receiving ALYT notifications |
Data that may be retained, and why
| Category | Why it may persist |
|---|---|
| A minimal audit-log entry recording that "account [id] was deleted on [date]" | Needed to demonstrate, for security and legal-compliance purposes, that the deletion actually occurred and when. This entry does not contain your personal data — no email, no name, no home details — only the fact and timing of the deletion itself. |
| Encrypted backup archives, for a limited period | ALYT's infrastructure is protected by regular backups, as described in our Data Retention & Deletion Notice. Your data may persist in an already-taken backup snapshot until that snapshot's own retention period expires and it is rotated out, even though it has already been removed from the live, in-use database. It is not accessible or restorable to anyone as "your account" during that window — it exists only as part of a whole-system backup used solely for disaster recovery. |
| Records you gave to a third-party integration directly | If you connected Ring, Alexa, SwitchBot, Cync, Tuya, or aromi.ai, deleting your ALYT account deletes ALYT's copy of the credentials, but does not touch your account with that third party. You must separately manage or delete your account with each third-party service if you want data removed there too. |
What happens to your devices
ALYT-branded hardware (hubs, satellites):
- Becomes unpaired from your ALYT account when your account is deleted
- Can be re-provisioned to a new account by anyone with physical access to it — this is intentional, the same way most connected hardware works, so that a device is not permanently bricked if its original owner's account goes away
- If you are getting rid of the device (selling it, giving it away, recycling it), factory reset it first so the next owner starts clean; instructions are in the device's setup documentation
Third-party devices reached through an integration (Sonos speakers, WiZ bulbs, a Ring doorbell, etc.):
- Are entirely unaffected by ALYT account deletion — they remain connected to their own manufacturer's account/cloud exactly as before
- ALYT's integration and any locally-cached information about them is deleted, but the devices themselves, and your relationship with their manufacturer, are untouched
Important Things to Consider Before You Delete
Automations stop immediately. Any routine scheduled to run in the future is disabled the moment your account is deleted. A routine that is actively mid-execution at that exact instant may or may not finish its remaining steps, depending on timing — we do not guarantee either outcome.
Linked third-party services are disconnected, not deleted at the source. If you linked Alexa, Ring, or another service, ALYT's side of that link is removed, but you should also check that service's own app or account settings if you want the connection fully cleaned up on their end as well.
Want a Copy of Your Data First?
You do not have to choose between keeping your data and deleting your account blind. Before deleting, you can request a complete export of everything ALYT holds about you, in a machine-readable format, by emailing privacy@alyt.co with the subject "Data Export Request." We provide exports within 30 days. See our Your Privacy Choices page for full detail on what an export includes.
Alternatives to Full Deletion
If your concern is about a specific type of data or feature rather than wanting to leave ALYT entirely, consider these narrower options instead of deleting everything:
- Turn off cloud features — Settings → Voice → disable "Use cloud reasoning" and "Store voice history," so voice processing and voice data stay fully local
- Disconnect specific integrations — Settings → Integrations → choose a connected service → Disconnect
- Delete your voice history — without deleting your account, from Settings → Voice History
- Remove household members — Settings → Household → Members → remove anyone who no longer needs access
- Request a data export — to review exactly what is stored, without changing anything
Data Subject Requests (GDPR/CCPA and Similar Laws)
If your jurisdiction gives you additional, specific data rights — the EU and UK under GDPR, California under the CCPA/CPRA, and a growing number of other U.S. states, among others — you can exercise those rights instead of, or alongside, account deletion. See our full Your Privacy Choices page for the complete list and how to submit a request. In short: access, correction, deletion, portability, and (where applicable) restriction and objection are all available on request to privacy@alyt.co, with identity verification and a response within 30–45 days depending on your location.
