Your Privacy Choices

Exercise your privacy rights: access your data, correct information, opt out of features, request deletion, or take your data elsewhere.

This page is the practical, step-by-step companion to our Privacy Policy. Where the policy explains what we do and why, this page tells you exactly which button to press, or which email to send, to change it. We have tried to describe only controls that actually exist today, and to say clearly where something is not yet self-service — we would rather you know the real current state than read a polished description of a button that is not there yet.

1. Control What ALYT Collects

Cloud Reasoning (optional, off by default)

By default, your voice queries are processed entirely on your home's hub. If you turn on cloud reasoning, complex requests may be routed to Fizzify's cloud inference service instead.

Where to change it: In the console or the mobile app, go to Settings → Voice → "Use cloud reasoning."

Who can change it: Only an account owner or admin-level household member — this setting cannot be changed by an API request or by a guest-level member, deliberately, since it affects the whole household's data flow, not just one person's.

Voice History & Transcripts (optional, off by default)

By default, ALYT records only metadata about a voice exchange (when, which device, whether it was processed locally or in the cloud) — not the words themselves. Turning this on begins storing the transcript and the assistant's reply too.

Where to change it: Settings → Voice → "Store voice history."

Important: Turning it on is not retroactive (past turns are not recovered), and turning it back off does not delete transcripts already stored while it was on — you have to delete those separately (see Section 4 below).

Home Address / Geolocation (optional, off by default)

Entering a home address is entirely optional. If you provide one, it is geocoded once and used only for the weather widget and sunrise/sunset-based routine triggers — never for continuous tracking.

Where to change it: In the mobile app, Settings → This home lets you set or clear the address directly, with a Save button. As of this page's last update, the web console does not yet offer an equivalent address field — this is currently a mobile-only control. If you use the web console exclusively and want your address changed or removed, email support@alyt.co.

2. Access Your Data

What you can already see in the app or console

  • Account info: Settings → Account (your email, role, and the home you belong to — currently shown as read-only; see Section 3 below on corrections)
  • Device configuration: the Devices tab (every device, its settings, and its status)
  • Voice history: Settings → Voice → Voice History (metadata, and transcripts if enabled)
  • Automations: the Routines tab (every routine and its recent run history)
  • Notifications: the notifications feed
  • Integrations: Settings → Integrations (what is connected, and what each has discovered)
  • Linked services: Settings → Linked Services (third-party account links, such as Amazon Alexa, with an Unlink control)

A complete export of everything

Your account data — your profile, the homes and roles you belong to, your consents, and your registered devices (never any password or token) — is available as a self-service JSON download from the app (Settings). For a fuller archive that also includes household configuration and history (automations, voice turns, command history) beyond your own account, email privacy@alyt.co with the subject line "Data Export Request" and enough to verify your identity; we provide that as structured JSON within 30 days (45 days if California law applies).

3. Correct Inaccurate Information

Some information is directly editable by you today; some currently requires our help. We want to be exact about which is which:

Room names, icons, listening, quiet hours, volumeYesTap a room → edit → Save
Device names and per-device settingsYesDevices tab → select a device → edit → Save

4. Delete Your Data

Delete specific data — self-service, works today

  • Individual voice turns: Settings → Voice History → hold on a turn → Delete
  • All voice history for a device or the whole property: Settings → Voice History → Delete All
  • Individual automations: Routines tab → select a routine → Delete
  • Integrations: Settings → Integrations → select a service → Disconnect (this deletes ALYT's stored copy of the credentials)
  • Linked third-party services (e.g., Alexa): Settings → Linked Services → Unlink
  • Household members' access: Settings → Household → Members → select a member → Remove Access

Delete your entire account

See our dedicated Delete Your Account page for the full, current process. In short: as of this page's last update, account deletion is handled by emailing support@alyt.co and is processed within 30 days; a fully self-service in-app deletion button is in development and will replace this as the primary method once it ships.

5. Opt Out of Optional Features

Cloud reasoning and transcript storage

Both are off by default and remain off unless you turn them on — see Section 1 above.

Marketing communications

We do not send marketing email without your consent. If you have opted in and want to stop, use the unsubscribe link included in every marketing email, or email privacy@alyt.co.

Diagnostics and usage telemetry

Basic operational telemetry — errors, crashes, and coarse feature-usage signals used to keep the service reliable — is not currently offered as an opt-out toggle, because it is treated as necessary to operate and secure the Service rather than as an optional feature, and it is never used for advertising or behavioral profiling. If you have concerns about a specific type of diagnostic data, email privacy@alyt.co and we will explain exactly what is collected in your case.

6. Global Privacy Control (GPC)

If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal (supported in Safari 16.4+, Firefox and Chrome/Edge with the GPC extension, and Android 13+ with GPC enabled), we treat it as an opt-out request for any non-essential processing, consistent with California and other states' recognition of GPC as a valid opt-out mechanism. Because ALYT does not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined by the CCPA/CPRA in the first place, GPC's primary practical effect today is to signal that we should not offer you optional cloud features by default and should minimize non-essential telemetry for that session — essential account, security, and device-control data continues to be processed regardless, because it is required to operate the Service you are using.

7. Control Household Access

If you are an account owner, Settings → Household → Members lets you invite people at three levels of access — owner, member, or guest — revoke any of them instantly, and set an automatic expiration date for guest access (useful for a house-sitter, contractor, or short-term visitor). See our Privacy Policy, Section 17 for what each role can see and do.

8. Control Third-Party Data Sharing

Integrations

Connecting a service like Sonos, Ring, Tuya, or SwitchBot gives ALYT permission to discover its devices, read their state, and send them commands. You control exactly which integrations are active, and can disconnect any of them from Settings → Integrations → select the service → Disconnect. Disconnecting deletes ALYT's stored credentials for that service; it does not touch your account with that service directly — manage that separately in the provider's own app if you want it fully unwound on their end too.

Amazon Alexa

If you have linked ALYT to Alexa, you can revoke it from either side:

  • From ALYT: Settings → Linked Services → Unlink
  • From the Alexa app: More → Skills & Games → Your Skills → ALYT → Disable Skill

9. Request Data Portability

You have the right to receive your data in a portable, machine-readable format. Your account data is a self-service JSON download in the app (Settings). For your household configuration, room and device setup, automation definitions, and historical data (voice turns, command history, notifications), email privacy@alyt.co with the subject "Portability Request," your account email, and proof of identity; we provide that as structured JSON within 30–45 days depending on your location.

10. Withdraw Consent

For anything processed on the basis of your consent — cloud reasoning, transcript storage, and optional marketing communications — you can withdraw at any time using the controls described above. Withdrawal stops future processing on that basis; it does not retroactively affect data already processed while consent was in effect (for example, transcripts already stored remain until you separately delete them).

11. Rights by Location

European Economic Area (GDPR)

In addition to access, correction, deletion, and portability, you have the right to restrict processing, object to processing based on legitimate interest, and lodge a complaint with your national data protection authority — listed by the European Data Protection Board.

United Kingdom (UK GDPR)

The same rights as GDPR above. Authority: the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).

Switzerland

The same core rights, plus the right to know that your data is transferred outside Switzerland. Authority: the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC).

California (CCPA/CPRA)

The right to know, delete, correct, and port your data, and the right to opt out of sale or sharing (which we do not do — see our Privacy Policy, Section 23). Authority: the California Privacy Protection Agency (CPPA).

Other U.S. states (Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah, Texas, and others with comprehensive privacy laws)

Broadly similar rights to know, delete, correct, and port your data. Submit requests to privacy@alyt.co; we honor the specific timelines and procedures of your state's law.

12. Making a Request

How

Email privacy@alyt.co with:

  • Your full name and account email address
  • Which right you are exercising (access, deletion, correction, portability, restriction, objection, etc.)
  • Any specific detail that narrows the request (e.g., "delete voice turns from before June 2026 only")
  • Proof of identity, if we cannot otherwise confirm you are the account holder

Household members

Only the account owner can submit a data request covering the entire household's configuration. A household member or guest can request access to or deletion of their own membership record, which removes them from the household without affecting the rest of it.

Authorized agents

An authorized agent may submit a request on your behalf with your signed authorization and proof of their own identity.

Response time

  • General: 30 days
  • California: 45 days (extendable once by another 45 days with notice to you)
  • Other states with comprehensive privacy laws: per that state's own statutory timeline, typically 30–45 days

Verification

We may ask you to verify your identity before acting on a request, to protect against someone else fraudulently accessing or deleting your data.

13. Non-Discrimination

We will not deny you service, charge you differently, or provide a degraded experience because you exercised any of these rights. If you believe otherwise, tell us directly at privacy@alyt.co.
